Volunteer! Join “Team Together”
Together, we unlock opportunities for the blind and visually impaired
Team Together is our corps of motivated volunteers, helping to impact the lives of blind and visually impaired residents of New Jersey. Located across the state, our team members use their individual talents to help spread awareness, raise funds, aid our clients directly, and involve others to make a difference.

SPECIAL NOTICE
We are in need of volunteers for our crochet club who would be able to assist our blind and visually impaired individuals with their crocheting. The club meets on Wednesdays from 10:30 a.m. to approximately 12:00 p.m. each week. Most of our clients already know how to crochet but get into difficulty at times and need that extra little help. The items that are crocheted are most often donated to Project Linus to disperse to hospitals and needy families for infants and children.
Visionaries – members needed
Have your own idea for a fundraiser or awareness campaign? Team Together needs you! You and your friends, family, office, or networking group can pull together to raise much needed funds for our programs serving the blind. We’re happy to speak to your group and provide event ideas, if needed.
Folding Force – members needed
Mailings serve as a critical fundraising tool and are a great way to distribute updates about the progress of our clients and programs. Every month or two for a few hours, we need letter folders, envelope stuffers, and stamp stickers at our main campus in Middletown. Free pizza is always provided!
Event Staff – members needed
We hold special events throughout the year, and volunteers are always needed to take tickets, sell 50/50’s, staff various stations, serve food, set up/clean up, and much more.
Activity Leaders – members needed
Are you the master of a hobby or skill that our clients might find educational, interesting, or fun? We are always looking for guest speakers and instructors for new classes for the blind and visually impaired. Check out our current programs for inspiration.
Satellite Squad – members needed
Donation containers at reception and check-out desks of businesses across the state is a great way to raise awareness AND funds. Help place containers, replace them when full, and drop them back at our office so that we can start using the cash right away to fund our programs!
Junior Crew (9-12 years) – members needed
We know that kids can make a difference, too! Be sure to have your parents’ contact us.
Path Makers – members needed
Helping the blind and visually impaired in NJ lead independent lives is the main goal of our organization. Many of our clients, especially those who are senior citizens, can easily injure themselves if their homes’ walking paths are covered with leaves, sticks, snow, or other obstructions. Our Path Makers ensure that our clients’ paths, and daily activities, remain unhindered.
Driving Force – fully staffed
Lack of reliable transportation is a problem for nearly all blind and visually impaired residents in NJ. While we have our own 12-passenger van to transport clients to and from our facility, we sometimes need a little help. For occasional events at which more than twelve clients will attend, or if our van is in the shop, we need our volunteers to be the driving force behind the day!
Call Crew – fully staffed
You know all those letters we send out (see “Folding Force” above)? It’s always a helpful, personal touch if our volunteers follow up with phone calls.
Camp Happiness Crew – fully staffed
Many volunteers have committed to joining us every single week at our main campus, Camp Happiness. This crew helps lead group activities, assists during meal service, and works closely with our small staff to ensure that, day after day, our signature Wobser Day Camp is a success.
