Photo of some members of the Support GroupWhile all of our programs serve as informal support groups, the Middletown Area Visually Challenged Group (MAVRC) has been based at NJBCA for six years as an official peer support group for local area residents experiencing vision loss. MAVRC is a member group of the Adjustment to Vision Loss Project, a network of 50 similar support groups in New Jersey.

Created under the auspices of the NJ Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the program operates as a discussion group with the aim of improving understanding of issues unique to individuals with vision loss.

Meetings are held monthly at NJBCA’s office in Leonardo. For more information, please contact Charles Blood, Group Facilitator and NJBCA Board President at 732-291-0878.

For more information about all Adjustment to Vision Loss peer groups, contact Susan Vanino, AVL Peer Support Coordinator
