ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS LIONS CLUB
The NJ Blind Citizens Assoc./Camp Happiness, has provided a free summer vacation program for blind/visually impaired adults since 1930, a run of 76 consecutive years.
The majestic building that hosts the program is a ten bedroom home sitting on Sandy Hook Bay. Built in 1930, we are very proud of this home and this program.
The home experiences a lot of harsh windy salt air weather, and in 2005, was in serious need of exterior painting and repairs. This was a project we could not afford, and volunteer groups could not do it because of the height of the house.
Up stepped the Atlantic Highlands Lions, approving the total cost to have the painting/repairs professionally done. The cost was in excess of $7,000, an incredible donation for our organization.
The pictures below give some idea of the disrepair, and how the building looked after. The importance of properly maintaining this building cannot be emphasized enough, and the caring shown by the Atlantic Highlands Lions truly exemplifies the Lions motto "We Serve".
Thank you Atlantic Highlands Lions, from all our members.
