Fitness Program

Clients Workout at the NJBCA Fitness Room.Physical fitness is the key to leading a healthy lifestyle, but many of our clients lack access to appropriate gym equipment or aerobics classes.  Thanks to the help of our generous donors, and the inspiration of the Eatontown Lions Club through their 5K event first held in 2004, we have tailored our fitness program to meet the needs of the blind and visually impaired.

In 2006, Eagle Scout candidate Conor Sullivan, and a team of Scouts from Troop 32 Doug & Nancy having a laugh during warm ups at Studio Vin Middletown, converted our unused garage into our very own gym.  Over the course of just one weekend, they cleaned, painted, and fully carpeted the facility, and installed numerous pieces of professional gym equipment.  Donations by Work Out World, NY Sports Club, and Sears have provided a full complement of weight training and aerobic gear.

Chair aerobics and yoga courses have enhanced our fitness program and provided offerings for some of our clients who are unable to participate in heavy weight lifting or taxing aerobic workouts.
